Flip-Flop Fun uses characters taught in Basic Chinese 500 to teach new words and sentences. It focuses on the study of rhymes, antonyms, synonyms, and parts of speech.
This series promotes independent reading in children who are studying the Confident Reader or above.
第一冊 Vol. 1
從「天上鳥，地上草」開始，孩子同時接觸到對比和韻語。
以日常生活的人物和活動為主題，小朋友容易理解，也能現學現用。書中每一句話都用了豐富的動詞、形容詞、副詞⋯⋯ 小朋友自然地能形成對身邊事物形態和特徵留心觀察的習慣和能力。
Beginning with the sentences「天上鳥，地上草」(birds in the sky, grass on the ground), children are introduced to both rhymes and linguistic contrasts.
The themes are based upon people and activities of our everyday lives which are easy for children to comprehend, allowing them to apply what they learn. Every sentence is embellished with details: adjectives and adverbs are used to describe scenarios, people, animals and their actions. On top of being a linguistic study, this also guides children to pay attention to their surroundings and sharpens their observation skills.
第二冊 Vol. 2
在第一冊的基礎上，沿用相同的格式，深化語法和詞彙的學習。第二冊的句子比第一冊稍微長了，所用的詞彙意識也較複雜了，加添了抽象的概念，也引入了少量在課程之上的生字。
With the foundation laid down in Vol. 1, Vol 2 deepens the study of vocabulary and grammar while following the same rhetorical pattern. The sentences are slightly longer, and the words are more complex. It introduces some abstract concepts.
Furthermore, there are a few new characters that are beyond the Basic Chinese 500 curriculum.
